What Are Environmental Graphics? Environmental graphics are a type of graphic design implemented to change an environments current look, feel, and traffic flow, usually sending a message or telling a story. This type of design is derived from combining architecture, interior design, and graphic design. No matter where you go, you are entering some sort of graphic environment put together to help you find your way or learn about a brands message. Environmental graphics are meant to give you an experience that you can’t get anywhere else. A memorable experience that will continue to bring you back. A great example of environmental graphics are in retail environments. Retail stores are very competitive. A great way to keep customers coming back is to have a great environment for them to shop, browse, or buy in. This type of design can be anything from larger than life wall graphics to the in house colors and music that is playing. The next time you are inside of a Best Buy buying electronics and interacting with displays or inside Coach looking for a new purse, notice the colors, music, pictures, fixtures, and even the lighting.
