Team Walking Beyond for Walk MS 2016 a Great Success!

Team Walking Beyond rallied together with many others to show support and bring awareness to the fight against MS. We were one of the largest teams there! An energetic group of local high school cheerleaders sent us off on the walk. It was a scenic journey through the Phoenix Zoo, bringing us back to the starting point. Sponsors provided refreshments and entertainment, complete with the Ghostbusters hearse and storm-troopers. Participation in raising funds by azpro team members was phenomenal! We had a successful bake sale and additional funds were raised through personal donations. Jamie (Lady Muerta) and Amanda P. raised funds through the sale of their own items. Jorge (Santa Cruz Liquors) matched Jamie’s donation. In total, Team Walking Beyond raised $2,598! We raised $668 in cash and check donations, $430 in online donations, and received a very gracious contribution of $1,500 from azpro. Thank you so much to everyone who donated and participated! You have made a difference to someone who is living with or is affected by MS. The money raised will be used to help fund cutting-edge research aimed at finding the cause of MS, more treatments and, ultimately, end the disease forever. The National MS Society uses 79¢ of every dollar raised to help people affected by MS by:

  • Providing resources and information for people living with MS about a variety of issues through newsletters, publications, education seminars and conferences, and at-home teleconferences.
  • Providing direct support and financial assistance for the FDA-approved medications, medical equipment, counseling services, respite, care management, college scholarships, and other emergency assistance.
  • Supporting emotional health and physical well-being through a network of self-help groups, a peer support telephone program, wellness programs, and more!
  • Reconnecting families affected by MS by coordinating family and social programs, couples retreats, kids camp, and other family support programs.
  • Driving change through advocacy at the federal, state and local level to benefit people with MS and their families.
