vehicle wrapping doesn’t damage your vehicle and it will protect your factory paint job, but what they don’t tell you is that vehicle wrapping can damage your vehicle if you don’t have a professional remove your vehicle wrap or if you leave the wrap on longer than recommended. Vehicle wrap and car decal removals typically involve a blow torch, hard squeegee, and a chemical remover for the vehicle wraps adhesive residue. The correct amount of heat is imperative for removal of your vehicles wrap. Too much heat and you will see the vinyl start bubbling, smoking, burning. This potentially start burning your car and it will become a huge mess. Too little heat could result in pulling up your paint upon the removal of the vinyl. This is why you should have a professional remove your vehicle wrap. Professionals are always the best option for vehicle wrap removals. Heating the vehicle wraps vinyl to the correct temperature, which our 3M Certified Installers are all trained and capable of doing, is the first step. When dealing with a full vehicle wrap removal, the next step is to remove all the large pieces of vinyl. Leave only the hard to remove or reach spots. Use the blow torch and the squeegee and removal of the smaller pieces should be easy. Once all the vinyl is removed from the vehicle there will be a residue from the vehicle wraps adhesive that will need to be removed. This adhesive cannot be removed with just warm soapy water and a rag. A powerful removal solution is required for taking off the vehicle wraps adhesive. Removing this full wrap or some car decals just to replace them with something newer is great. However, there is one more step involved. Using the chemical removal solution will leave an oily surface on your vehicle which will make a new vehicle wrap or decal application unsuccessful. Use alcohol to wipe down all of the areas of the vehicle that you used the removal solution on. This will allow a nice clean surface for your vehicle to be rewrapped. It will also allow the vinyl to adhere to the vehicles surface appropriately. In short, save yourself time, headaches, and potentially save your car from damage.
